Markethouse Lofts
This high-end, multi-family project offers the advantages of loft living as well as the comforts of a more traditional home. The project is serving as a catalyst in the transformation of an older, mixed neighborhood that is directly adjacent to an active railroad, 2 apartment complexes, and city park, and is in close proximity to a Japanese community and industrial buildings. In order to assure compatibility with the existing surroundings, this project required integration with a variety of conditions. The triangular site also provided challenges due to its irregular shape and limited size.
The 1–bedroom units are divided into 4 buildings to accommodate the site configuration and reduce massing. Each elevation has its own character yet still maintains a similar architectural language throughout. Shifts in building planes are accentuated by carefully placed color schemes to reduce massing and provide depth and richness. The podium building provides underground parking and landscaping opportunities above grade. Interior details include double-height spaces, loft levels, and 4 distinct unit options to provide maximum flexibility for residents.
